THE FUTURE OF MOVIE PREVIEWS: AN AR CONCEPT
A new concept for seeing movie previews...
This idea was born out of imagining an enchanting viewer experience of seeing a trailer launched in virtual space through an object associated with the film using augmented reality – such as the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick film’s preview being seen through lifting up a pair of aviator sunglasses, or touching a bomber jacket
Created in AR Foundation within Unity for XCode, and built for the iPhone

THE PROCESS
It started off from here - after brainstorming the concept, I first rapidly prototyped the idea using image targets next to an object to launch videos in Vuforia – Rookie of the Year next to a Cubs bobblehead, and Top Gun off of aviators:
From there, I set out to be able to launch a video from touching the object – tapping the helmet of the bobblehead to launch the Rookie of the Year video.
So I began exploring virtual buttons to place “atop” the bobblehead’s helmet in space, and wrote a script utilizing the virtual buttons event handler to launch the Rookie of the Year video when the virtual button on top of the bobblehead was selected, essentially making it look like the bobblehead is being tapped to launch the video.
